— Grand Rapids is serious about art - as you'll see virtually anywhere you look downtown. In addition to galleries and museums, the city is awash with outdoor art. Explore our Sculptures & Historic Buildings and keep your eyes peeled for everything from an authentic Apollo space capsule to the 42-ton Alexander Calder sculpture that has come to symbolize our creative spirit.

ArtPrize

ArtPrize is the world's largest prize for art and will be decided by the public's vote. This inaugural event will begin September 23 and will commence October 10, 2009. At that time the top art prize of $250,000 will be awarded to the winner determind by the public. The venues range of local businesses, art galleries and public spaces throughout a deteremined area of Grand Rapids. Each artist and venue went through a matching system to connect pair up for this event. This is a competition so the winner is based on the public's vote. Those who are at least 16 and registered with ArtPrize can vote. There will be prizes for the top 10 entries. For more information about ArtPrize visit ArtPrize.org.
